The basics

What is Competitive Games League?

CGL is a student-founded competition company started at Emory University. We run live tournaments where a large field of players competes through a series of original games. Players are eliminated each round until one champion is left.

Do I need experience or special training?

No. Every game is designed to be simple to understand, so you can show up and compete right away. CGL isn't built around one sport, so no single background gives anyone a big head start.

What kinds of games are played?

Our games are original, and each one tests a different mix of athleticism, strategy, coordination, decision-making, accuracy, and composure under pressure. We don't publish the specific games ahead of time, so everyone has to adapt on the spot.

How does elimination work?

After each round, some players are eliminated and the rest move on to the next game. This continues until one competitor is left. We share the exact format for each event before it starts.

Entry & prizes

Is there an entry fee?

Yes. Every CGL tournament has a cash entry fee. We announce the fee for each event before registration opens.

How are prizes awarded?

Prize money goes to the top finishers based on how they perform across the tournament. We publish the prize structure for each event ahead of time.

Is this based on skill or chance?

Skill. Results are decided by how players perform in each game. Eligibility requirements and official rules apply to every event.

Who is eligible to compete?

We post the eligibility requirements, such as age, for each tournament along with its registration details.
